Late last year, "Legion of Watch Dogs" was postponed along with "Rainbow Six: Isolation" and "Gods and Monsters," so it's not surprising that the current pandemic may further slow progress.
This approach is partly due to the tedious release of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and Ubisoft wants to make these games even better.
Videogames Chronicle quoted an anonymous source as saying that "The Watchdog Army" could be released at the same time as the next generation of game consoles later this year. This is to provide the console itself without being affected by lag.
In an interview with The New York Times, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that since they switched to working from home, there has been no major disruption to the development plan.
However, when talking about Ubisoft partners, Guillemot also noted that Ubisoft "will make adjustments to do what is best for them and for our players." This may mean that additional lags for Ubisoft games are not impossible, especially if next-gen consoles experience lags.
It can be said with certainty that the "Watch Dogs" series did not get off to the best start in 2014, and the obvious graphical degradation of the initial screen is the biggest culprit.
Since then, Watch Dogs has climbed all the way. "Watch Dogs 2" has improved on the original in almost every way and is praised for its open-world design, flexible hacking, and secretive gameplay.
From what we saw in the Watchdogs shots, the London setting and detailed recruiting model seem to make the army the best title in the Watchdogs series. If this version launches at the same time as the next-gen console, it should be an exciting title. The 4,444 games that dropped with the release date also received additional attention. They are usually included in console bundles, and most gamers will choose them just to see the features of their new console. For Ubisoft, it makes sense to do everything possible to link the launch of Watch Dogs Legion with the launch of these new consoles.
