Stop discord opening on startup

When an application loads during startup, it is not only annoying, but it also puts additional pressure on your PC. This added pressure will exponentially slow down your startup process, so choosing what to load during this period is really important.

It's not just start time, loading Steam every time you turn on your PC can be very distracting too, especially if you now work from home like most people do.

Fortunately, learning how to prevent Steam from loading on startup couldn't be easier. It only requires a few simple steps and hardly any technical knowledge is required. So, with this in mind, let's not waste time studying it in depth!

There are several different ways to stop Steam from loading at startup. However, for the first method, we will use Steam.

When loading Steam, just click the "Steam" tab in the top menu, and then select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.

In the settings menu, find the `Interface` tab and click on it.

In the Settings tab of the Steam interface, you will see a list of options. Among these options, there will be a box that says "Run Steam when my computer starts." Just uncheck the box and click "OK" to confirm the operation.

This will prevent Steam from loading at startup, relieving your PC of any additional stress and annoyance it may cause.

Unlike the first method, we will use Windows in this particular method to prevent Steam from loading at startup.

Use the Windows search function to start searching for "Startup Application". You can do this by typing "launch application" in the search function or by pressing the Windows key and searching in this way.

There is no search function in the startup application. You must manually scroll through the list and find the "Steam client bootloader". Unless your PC has hundreds of programs installed, this list shouldn't be that long.

Below the Steam client launcher, you will see a switch that can be turned on and off. Just set the client boot program so that it will not start at boot when the switch is toggled. You don't need to confirm this action, just set it to close and exit the launcher app. It really is that simple.

You have it, our quick little guide on how to prevent Steam from starting when loaded. We all do this: let our launcher app get out of hand. You can get to the point where Windows loads, you have to wait 10 minutes for all the apps to load!

Fortunately, with this quick tutorial, you can not only prevent Steam from loading on startup, but you can also prevent other applications from loading.

That is, if you have any questions about this process, feel free to leave me a message in the next section. Even better, why not head to our Community Center, where you can discuss everything on Steam with like-minded people.
