Ryzen 5 3500
Another day, another Ryzen 5 was leaked. This time, contrary to previous rumors, the recently updated MSI support database seems to show that AMD's Matisse Ryzen 5 3500X and 3500 CPUs have different base clock speeds. Database entry
shows the list of CPUs compatible with MSI's Godlike MEG X570 motherboard. The Ryzen 5 3500X is assigned a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz, as well as 32 MB of L3 cache and 65 W TDP. Details on the
have been consistent with expected CPU specs, and the presence in the official database adds to speculation that the Ryzen 5 3500 series is almost certain at this point. However, the list of new HP Pavilion desktops on the retailer's Amazon website includes the AMD Ryzen 5 3500 (note there is no X, which means a different variant of the CPU), with a speed of base clock of only 3.4 GHz. CPU details in the
list are vague at best - `` Super high speed processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500 processor, 6 cores, 3.40 GHz '', for making it difficult to determine whether we should consider it a blessing or a mistake from Amazon `Part. The
has been moved to the present, the difference between the two models is that the Ryzen 5 3500X has a 32MB cache, while the 3500 has 16MB. The MSI database entry seems to support this. As the base clock speed of the 3500 variant drops by 200 MHz, the logic behind having two different models makes more sense.
Interestingly, the list indicates that HP's gaming equipment will be shipped on October 20th, which may indicate when AMD plans to release a new CPU.
