Rebuff reality at ces 2020
There are two main ways that you can record audio on Discord. The method you choose will depend on whether you are the server owner / administrator, have the server administrator role assigned to your account, or are simply a member. For the first, we recommend using Craig Chat Bot; otherwise, you can't use Discord to record audio, but you can use free third-party software OBS (Open Broadcaster Software).
Note: In many countries, it is illegal to record other people without their permission. Even if your place is not illegal, there must be ethical issues in doing it! Before using any of the methods described by us, make sure you have obtained the consent of all parties that may eventually record.
A great advantage of using Craig Chat Bot is that it records each user as a separate audio track, making it easy for certain users to edit and / or remove from the recording if they (for example) decide not to. . you want Appears in the recording. Craig Chat Bot also has a clearly visible recording icon, as long as it is set to record, all parties can see it, thus eliminating the sneaky secret recording option. Craig Bot can record up to 6 hours in a single recording.
If you are the owner or administrator of the server, you will automatically have the permissions required for the following steps. If not, you will need to obtain the authority granted by the management server role. If you are not sure how to do this, please read our handy guide on adding roles to Discord. When you get to step 3 of Part 1 of the guide, you need to make sure that the "Manage Server Permissions" slider is green (which means it is selected). Click Save Changes at the bottom and follow the rest of the guide to add them to your account.
Navigate to the Craig Chat Bot web page and click to invite the bot to your server.
After clicking to invite the robot, a pop-up window should appear, as shown in the figure, asking you to select a specific server from the drop-down box. Select your preferred server, make sure the administrator check box is selected, and click Authorize. If this process is successful, you should see a message on the server informing you that Craig Bot has joined.
To get the Craig Bot recording, you just need to enter an audio channel and type the following command: craig:, join
You should hear an audio alert confirming that the recording has started, and note that the bot username should be changed to:
! [Recording] Craig.
You can configure Craig Bot to record on multiple channels simultaneously.
To prevent Craig Bot from recording to a single audio channel, enter that channel and type the following command: craig:, leave
To prevent Craig Bot from recording to all channels at the same time, type the following command: craig: please stop
Once you start recording, you should receive a private message from the Craig bot with a link to download or delete the conversation you think is appropriate.
You can find a complete list of possible commands available for Craig Bot here. Or, type the following command in the Discord channel, and the link will appear: craig:, help
Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is free for Windows, Mac and Linux, and usually online creatives use it to transfer content. It is related to games or other aspects.
This software works by "capturing" audio and video channels, the source of which can come from your desktop, the output of a specific software, or actually an external microphone input. In this case, you can record audio from the Discord channel as well as your personal microphone input.
To record Discord audio to OBS, press the plus (+) icon in the source area of the OBS window. From the menu, select Audio output capture to select the desktop audio output for recording. If you want to use your own microphone alone, press the plus (+) icon again and select audio capture.
If you only have one output device (for example, your headset), setting this option as the default should be fine. Otherwise, select the desired device from the "Properties" menu and click "OK" to confirm.
If you search for Audio Mixer in OBS, you should see that the level in Audio Out Capture moves in response to audio input (such as someone's voice). If not, there may be a problem with your device and cannot receive audio.
In the mixer window, you can use the blue slider to change the recording volume to the desired level, allowing you to control the mixing.
The microphone/auxiliary section shows the audio being picked up from the microphone, assuming you have selected it as the source (if not, repeat step 1 and add as needed). If you want to stop the microphone recording, please click to mute the speaker icon next to the microphone/auxiliary (pictured).
To start recording, click the "Start Recording" button under the "Controls" section in the lower right area of the OBS window.
Even if you only record audio, OBS will save the recorded content as a blank video file, using the MKV file format by default. If needed, these can be converted to pure audio formats, such as MP3,
