Nvidia ampere 7nm hopper gpu 5nm
The new year is good news for NVIDIA fans.It looks like NVIDIA's next-gen Ampere GPU will be a big step up from the Turing GPU. As NVIDIA will release these new Ampere GPUs in the second half of 2020, it looks like we will be able to see how efficient they are compared to their predecessors.
According to the Taipei Times, Ampere's successor to the Turing GPU architecture will provide greater performance improvements than originally expected. The leap in efficiency and performance appears to be attributed to Ampere's adoption of the 7nm process node.
TSMC has been confirmed to process 7nm GPU orders and a small quantity will be shipped to Samsung. This confirmation comes from Huang Renxun, the CEO of Nvidia, who also told us that the time to market for this CPU cannot be disclosed at this time. The expectation that the NVIDIA
Ampere GPU will be impressive isn't just a guess. Currently, the overall performance improvement is expected to be about 50%, providing twice the energy efficiency.
This also means that ray tracing performance will be greatly improved; that is, NVIDIA has continually improved. The
's excellent energy efficiency that drives this performance is the result of microarchitecture and optimization at the hardware level. The new 7nm process also helps upgrade NVIDIA GPUs to the same level as current AMD Navi products.
NVIDIA managed to get all of us excited about the upcoming Ampere GPUs, and it will be interesting to see how well they support AMD products. Although it seems that we still have a long waiting time, we are likely to hear more details at this year's CES, and even in future events such as E3 2020.
