If you own certain AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT graphics cards, ASUS and AMD have recently announced long-awaited firmware updates.
This new BIOS update will unlock faster memory speeds, allowing GDDR6 memory to jump from 12 Gbps to 14 Gbps.
There is a lot of confusion about the new RX 5600 XT card and this recent BIOS update. AMD has been fighting head-to-head with Nvidia and its GeForce RTX 2060-Nvidia lowered prices recently to compete with AMD.
This move appears to have caused AMD to initiate a last minute BIOS update. However, a large number of 5600 XT graphics cards have been shipped prior to applying this update, which means that some users have been waiting for this update to apply to them for a long time as well.
This also means that hardware partners (such as ASUS) provide customers with this BIOS update. To say the least, everything is a bit confusing and frustrating.
However, some RX 5600 XT card owners can now finally update their BIOS. ASUS graphics cards, including ASUS TUF Gaming X3 Radeon RX 5600 XT Evo and ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 5600 XT cards, should now have a BIOS update available.
To access the new BIOS revision, you just need to click on these links and they will take you to the ASUS website where you can get more information.
But please note: Updating the BIOS can be simple but complicated and will depend on the specifications of the graphics card and various factors. Fortunately, ASUS has compiled a detailed guide to help you determine its specifications.
