It’s no secret that AMD has been at the center of some of the biggest technical announcements in recent years. Well, an unlisted video recently posted on YouTube suggests that they may be at the center of another rather special presentation.
Judging from the overall GPU layout of the video and the choice of DisplayPorts it handles, the best guess suggests that this may be the official debut of the company's new Radeon Pro GPU lineup-Radeon Pro W6800 and W6900X. Since the end of 2020, there have been
rumors about the new Navi 21-based Prograde GPU; however, the announcement seems to be scheduled for June 8, 2021 (confirming what the previous rumors implied). The
teaser video confirms that the problematic GPU will provide a blue color scheme (similar to W5700) and various DisplayPort connections (6 in total), further consolidating the theory of Radeon Pro series release.
recent news has seen hints of W6900X in Mac source code; however, the leak is relatively limited to W6800. With this in mind, it is not yet known whether AMD will launch a full product line or just a GPU. Since then, 4,444 photos of the new GPU product line have been posted on Chiphell, including a photo of PCB.
In addition to some unlisted images and video, some initial performance benchmarks have also been leaked. Wccftech recommends testing on non-final controllers, which means that these numbers are not representative of final performance.
The performance of the Radeon RX 6000 series gaming GPU and W6800 you will see has better driver optimization than the currently unreleased Pro w6000 alternative. So to reiterate, benchmarks are just a guide to what we might expect at launch.
The following are some initial specifications of Radeon Pro W6800 / W6900X compared to previous generations of Pro Graphics workstations:
