With the release of so many CPUs and components, not to mention how different AMD and Intel are in technology, even the most experienced PC manufacturers have become increasingly difficult to choose the CPU that best suits their needs.

This is our entry point. Today, we will see two types of processors from these rival companies: AMD Ryzen 5 and Intel Core i7. We'll break down each CPU and help you understand the differences so you can make the most informed decision.

In short, AMD Ryzen 5 is a series of 12-thread desktop processors with quad-core 64-bit and 86-core. Each chip in this series is based on the Zen architecture, which is AMD's third architecture design.

Generally, the AMD Ryzen 5 microprocessor contains 4 cores that can handle 8 threads at the same time or 6 cores that can support 12 threads at the same time. i7 processor was first developed in 2008 and is the Intel Core i7 CPU series. It has experienced 9 generations of cards since its first release. Until 2017, Intel Core i7 was Intel’s fastest processor series until Intel Core i9 was released. At the time of writing, the Intel i7 series processors contain up to 8 cores, with an average default clock speed of approximately 3.6GHz. This makes the Intel i7 series a favorite among gamers, PC developers, and content creators.

The first specification, let's take a look at its architecture. All Ryzen 5 processors are built using the same Zen microarchitecture, which is an architecture designed to reduce overall power consumption and increase clock speed.

Since each Ryzen 5 processor is Zen-based, they are all manufactured using the 14nm FinFET process, which helps the chip execute instructions more efficiently each cycle and use less power. SMT is also enabled, which is a process that allows each core to run two threads at the same time, and has an innovative SoC design that allows each chip to have a higher overall bandwidth. By contrast, all Intel i7 processors are based on Intel's Kaby Lake microarchitecture, which is a microarchitecture that uses a 14-nanometer manufacturing process.
