Since their launch in 2017, the EPYC series processors have been an excellent choice for the server and embedded systems markets.

Today, AMD added two more processors to this line: EPYC 7662, its fifth 64-core CPU, and EPYC 7532, a 32-core CPU for programs that require a large L3 cache.

We know that Dell and Supermicro have signed up to use these new chips so far, and other big names may follow.

Like other 64-core processors in the EPYC product line, the EPYC 7662 processor is a 64-core chip with a 256MB L3 cache. It appears that this chip is designed to provide a more economical option for customers who need a 64-core option, keeping it at a lower level than existing chips.

It seems that the main frequency of this chip will match the market price. With a base clock speed of only 2.0 GHz and a boost clock up to 3.3 GHz, this is one of the lowest clocks in the range.

The chip’s TDP is rated at 225W, which is a fairly typical range for these high-end processors. This shows that it is a less power efficient processor for those who need to save a little money on hardware but don't mind handling higher temperatures and higher power consumption. Another new

AMD chip is EPYC 7532, which is a 32-core processor with a 2.4 GHz base clock that can be increased to 3.3 GHz. The difference between it and other 32-core chips in the same series is that it has an impressive amount of L3 cache: 256MB to be precise.

This fills a gap in the market for consumers who need a larger cache. Each core has 8MB of L3 cache available instead of the normal 4MB, which can help programs maximize performance when running cache-sensitive applications.

Finally, like all the latest AMD EPYC processors, these two new CPUs have 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes and can support up to 4TB of DDR43200 DRAM.
