Last weekend, we began to see some new AMD B550 motherboards appearing online. At least five different variants appeared on Amazon for booking, but inventory levels did not last long.

We don't know if these motherboards went online due to errors, but since the "currently unavailable" listings were quickly removed from Amazon's listings, we assume they are. It would be interesting to see if people who successfully booked will complete their order, but it seems that we can see the launch of the B550 series soon anyway.

Amazon pre-ordered the five motherboard models as follows:

AMD has confirmed that the B550 and X570 motherboards will be compatible with the upcoming Zen 3 processor. They also announced that the previous generation of X470 and B450 motherboards will also support the new generation.

These motherboards are based on AMD's B550 chipset, designed to provide PCIe 4.0 support to a wider range of customers. This should result in these motherboards being much cheaper than the X570 model, but previous leaks indicate that this may not be the case.

For example, the retail price of the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Master motherboard is $ 279, while MSI's flagship product is the MSI B550 Gaming Carbon WiFI, which is priced at $ 219. Although prices will definitely vary between models and manufacturers, it's interesting that you can start shopping for cheap X570 chipset motherboards for as little as $ 160.

Before we get these motherboards, it's hard to see what the price increase will bring, but we hope it's worth it. Good to know that some of the leaked reserve prices appear to be more reasonable than we initially saw.

When we see it, we will pay close attention to more motherboard news. Be sure to keep checking here at WePC for the latest technology news every day.
