Today, we will review a new high-quality Nitro gaming monitor, the Acer Nitro XV282K KVbmiipruzx, a high-end 4K Ultra HD IPS gaming monitor that not only provides amazing image quality and color accuracy, but also has a high refresh rate of 144Hz and a fast 1ms. We will put Nitro XV282K in many different test scenarios to see how it compares with similarly priced alternatives in terms of build quality, color accuracy, game performance and overall price/performance.

Like other Nitro monitors, the XV282K is housed in a rather unusual box with limited marketing materials on the outside. Inside, the user will find the monitor removed from the stand. Aside from the specifications, let's take a closer look at the structural quality, design and mechanical characteristics of this monitor. The

Acer Nitro XV282K definitely has better styling than some of the other monitors in this particular lineup. The large 27-inch display offers a near borderless design, which is emphasized by a slim two-stage border. The bottom edge is the largest of the four and the Acer logo is subtly printed in the lower left corner. In another corner, users will find an IPS "Agilesplendor" logo next to the deltaE color accuracy label. The

bracket base is designed in a round shape, which is not as stable as the "V" shape alternative. That said, it does provide a subtle design aesthetic for the Nitro XV282K, which is nothing like Acer's Predator line. In the center of the bottom bezel, users will find an automatic brightness sensor, simply adding a premium feel to the beauty of the screen. Moving the

to the back of the monitor, we found a cylindrical mount that provides a lot of adjustment and versatility. The base of the stand provides a small hook for cable management, finished in dark red. The back of the stand has a bi-color aesthetic, characterized by a brushed aluminum finish on the top. You can see the Acer logo in the upper right corner of the panel, and there are four buttons and a joystick below for OSD navigation. On the other hand, users will find a pair of USB ports for easy access to peripherals or charging devices.

Although the Nitro name usually applies to budget-friendly monitors, this is not the case with XV282K. The price of this monitor is approximately US$899, which means that the build quality must reach the highest level.

From the first impression, this is definitely a well-made monitor. That said, I am still not satisfied with the quality of the bottom bezel, it just feels very fragile and always tempts me to tear it off. But other than that, this monitor is very sturdy. The

panel itself, in addition to the ones mentioned above, feels very good, and all accessories are well done. During the robustness test, I did not feel any creaking or bending on the back of the monitor. The stand feels very sturdy and can hold the monitor firmly in place. I didn't experience any shaking during the game, even when I was actively trying to shake, which in itself was impressive.

Overall, Nitro XV282K scored very high in terms of manufacturing quality. Ashamed of that bottom baffle.

Like most modern panels, Acer Nitro XV282K has an anti-glare panel coating with a matte finish (hardness 3H). The coating does an excellent job of reducing natural and artificial light sources, but it collects a lot of fingerprints during use.

That said, due to the immersive nature of the panel, fingerprints will not adversely affect the viewing experience. The

Excellent colors and excellent image quality are the two main factors that help you create an immersive feeling when gaming. Although good colors are important, display manufacturers do not always calibrate colors with colors that are considered accurate within a specific color spectrum, for example sRGB / Rec.709.

We like to test the color reproduction of each monitor to see how they perform in a scene 0 with color accuracy.

As always, we first tested the ready-to-use display. This is a very important factor for users who do not like to alter the color settings in the OSD. The factory settings for this monitor are as follows: 100 candela of brightness, warm color temperature, and "low blue light" are set as standard. The maximum brightness is also disabled and the "mode" is set to standard.

works out of the box, color is fine, but nothing special. The white point is at 6268K and the depth of black is 0.10. The contrast ratio is higher than the market 1000: 1 (1096: 1) and the gamma reading is 2.09. The average deltaE is 1.95 points and the brightness is 100 candela, acceptable for prolonged viewing in daylight.

running the sRGB preset provides better results, especially in the average deltaE sector. In other words, the white balance and black depth are almost the same as the factory settings. The contrast is slightly reduced, and the measured value is 978:1. The color accuracy is very good, with an average of 1.03, which is acceptable (though not the best) for people who need color accuracy to work. The measured gamma is 2.14.

I checked some of the various presets available, but some are worth trying to check the color accuracy. The following presets are available; Action, Racing, Sports, User, Standard, ECO, Graphics and HDR. This is the standard configuration of Acer monitors, and many monitors provide the exact same color palette for you to choose from.

Having said that, out of curiosity, I ran the Racing preset through the colorimeter. Unsurprisingly, it is not as accurate as the other settings we tested. The white point is 6291K and the black depth is 0.25 (the worst we recorded). The contrast ratio is also greatly reduced, at 747:1. The average DeltaE is the most disappointing result, with an average of 3.35.

I finally tested user presets. It provides a good white point and acceptable black depth. The contrast is good, with a gamma reading of 2.09. The average DeltaE is 2.37, which is very poor from a color accuracy point of view.

After trying various presets, I wasted no time in calibrating the panel, recording the color gamut, panel uniformity, and overall color accuracy.

We select the "User" color setting and change the RGB to 47/39/50. The

results are as follows:

After calibrating the monitor with a colorimeter, the Acer Nitro XV282K displays more accurate colors, as expected. After calibration, a perfect white balance of 6491K and a depth of black of 0.22 were recorded. The strange thing is that after calibration, the XV282K only provides a contrast ratio of 537: 1, almost half of the 1000: 1 that are sold on the market. However, even more impressive is the average deltaE, which is now 0.29 on average. The maximum deltaE of 1.41 was also recorded, and the gamma reading was 2.19.

Finally, although this is not the most accurate panel we have tested, it is not bad for monitors aimed at gamers rather than professional editors. The

panel uniformity is a test we ran to check the uniformity of brightness and color across the screen. During this test, the central square was used as the reference space. Then test every two squares to see how far it differs from the reference value.

In an ideal world, we want each square to be green, which means that it does not exceed the difference threshold; we can set it at the beginning of the test.

Look closely at the uniformity of the panel, XV282K actually performed quite well. In terms of color and gloss uniformity, most of the panels we received received a "pass" rating, below the percentage deviation we set at the beginning of the test.

This will be a good monitor for viewing content with large blocks of color, such as football or tennis matches.

Like other displays that use IPS panels, the Acer Nitro XV282K provides a very good viewing angle. Even with a defocus angle greater than about 50 degrees, you can easily see the monitor, with very small deviations in color and brightness. This monitor can be used by multiple people,

A wider color gamut than other secondary alternatives. We also recorded the RGB color coverage of 83.1obe and 86.8IP3. If this is the case, place this panel at the high end of the color gamut spectrum.

If you look at the physical color gamut map, you can see where the Acer Nitro XV282K exceeds the sRGB space. This is particularly noticeable in the green and red parts of the color space. In general, from the perspective of color gamut and color accuracy, this monitor exceeds the needs of most gamers. It provides fantastic colors and a wide color gamut, providing a pleasant immersive experience.

We finished the color accuracy and image quality test by checking the maximum brightness, minimum brightness and 120 candlepower points on this panel. The result is as follows:

color accuracy is unaffected, it's time to let the Acer Nitro XV282K experience a variety of different gaming scenes, to see how it performs in terms of pixel response, input lag, and HDR content. Let's dive right into it!

I started with some competitive headlines and watched the screens stack up from a response point of view. Before playing the game, I increased the refresh rate to 144Hz (in GPU display settings), enabled Over Drive, and set VRB (Visual Response Enhancement) to "Normal".

So like I said, the first game I loaded was CS: GO, a fast-paced shooter in which gamers really got an edge over their competitors through faster refresh rates and response times.

I started playing some Deathmatches, which made me feel very positive about this panel. I have just completed testing on the Acer Nitro XV252Q (a 390Hz 24.5-inch monitor) and the difference between the two is very small. It's true that XV252Q feels a bit faster, but nothing is particularly remarkable. The 144Hz refresh rate of XV282K is enough to let me know many players on the server. Fast-moving players are very clear, and the slower airbrush and lunge options provide more clarity. When operating the OSD setting of the monitor, I noticed that setting the Over Drive to "Extreme" will produce a slight overshoot. Although this is not completely harmful to the game, it is definitely compelling. In addition, setting the VRB mode to "Extreme" will reduce the brightness exponentially. When combined with Over Drive on "Extreme", it also brings a sense of tension to the game, which is very offensive. In other words, when you find the perfect balance between the two settings, the gaming experience will be incredibly immersive.

Playing games like Tomb Raider and Cyberpunk will only increase my impression of this monitor. The size of the 27-inch panel is suitable for the overall game immersion and brings a sense of connection that is very suitable for casual and competitive games. I allowed the high dynamic range of SOTTR and Cyberpunk, but the results were a bit disappointing. HDR400 certification is an entry-level standard that only adds limited detail in light and dark areas. Since there is no local dimming, the HDR provided by this monitor is pointless. Having said that, 4K gaming is indeed an experience. It's true that most people may struggle to achieve the 144 frames required to get the best viewing experience from this panel, but if you can, it's really special.

Let's not forget the compatibility with HDMI 2.1. Console gamers have been eagerly awaiting a monitor with this input mount; well, Nitro XV282K can serve you well. It allows PlayStation and Xbox users to hit 120Hz when playing in 4K. Yes, the support for this tool is still limited, but when compared to smaller panels, it does make a difference.

But there are some shortcomings, not just the jitter caused by VRB and Over Drive. First of all, if you buy this monitor from the market, you will not only need to spend $ 800, but also a powerful PC to get it going. In 4K, the requirements for AAA games are very high. In this particular format, many GPUs cannot reach more than 100 FPS, which makes the game less interesting. Although you will be able to take advantage of variable refresh rate support, you should always aim for high FPS with limited drop-off.
