Back to the future as lucasfilm games re emerges from history
For retro nerds like me, there are some game company logos that give people a sense of excitement when they appear on the screen in front of you. The
logo used to be Lucasfilm Games, which decorated classics from the bygone era, such as the XWing v TieFighter and Monkey Island series.
In any event, to pay tribute to the past, a blog post was posted on Starwars.Com yesterday:
Lucasfilm's legacy in the video game field stretches back decades. As Lucasfilm and the distant galaxy enter an unprecedented stage of innovation, the Lucasfilm gaming world will be developed in cooperation with the best studios in the industry.
StarWars.com is pleased to reveal that Lucasfilm Games is now the official logo for all Lucasfilm games. The name includes the company's rich video game catalog and its vision for the future. To commemorate this new era, Lucasfilm Games has opened social channels on Twitter (@LucasfilmGames) and Facebook (@LucasfilmGames), which will bring fans the latest news more directly. Below you can watch special Lucasfilm highlights that celebrate the history of the game; The Lucasfilm Games logo above will appear on all future Lucasfilm Games games.
While there are no known Star Wars games in development, it obviously means that something is about to happen, and we will be paying close attention to the prospect of this historic rebranding in the coming months. Please don't spoil the memories.
