As far as I can remember, overclocking is a tool that PC manufacturers have been using. This is a great way to extract additional performance from the hardware without additional cost. However, if you are not familiar with building games across the PC, this can be a little scary. Move around the BIOS carefully, adjust the clock frequency and voltage, and pay attention to the temperature. This used to be the only way to overclock the hardware. However, this is no longer the case.

Thanks to the easy-to-use overclocking software such as Ryzen Master, the overclocking process becomes easier.

In the past ten years, AMD has made huge waves in the processing field of technology, and PC enthusiasts have taken this seriously. That said, Intel has dominated most of the last decade because it outperformed AMD in key areas like market share and single-core CPU performance levels. Good news for Intel fans.

However, Intel did not realize that AMD has been developing a new line of CPUs, which may remove them from the competition for CPU dominance. That's how it is. We are talking about AMD's Ryzen 3000 series. The new AMD

processor series is specifically designed to not only match Intel processors in performance and price, but also replace Intel processors. Now, as we all know, this was not the case when the Ryzen 3000 series was released. AMD managed to lower the price of Intel, but when it comes to gaming performance, it did not completely outperform Intel - in most games. AAA, the gap between them and Intel is very small.

But what does all this have to do with overclocking and Master Ryzen? We will talk about this soon, relax!

As you probably know by now, AMD has designed all Ryzen series compatible unlocked CPUs. This means that you can squeeze every last drop of the performance potential out of these chips by overclocking.

Shortly after the release of the Ryzen 3rd Gen, AMD's impressive Ryzen 9 3950X broke the world record for initial image overclocking.

Now Ryzen chips have always been very well optimized right out of the box. That said, there is still enough room to add additional overclocking potential. This is where the Ryzen Master utility comes in.

So how does Master Ryzen make life easier? What is the difference between using software and entering BIOS? Well, in short, life has become much easier. The

Ryzen Master overclocking software utility is designed for overclocking Ryzen processors in AM4 infrastructure. Including all Ryzen processors, accelerated processing units and HEDT Ryzen Threadripper processors.

AMD's Ryzen Master provides users with advanced real-time control of their system performance. The software allows users to adjust everything from a single core to the memory voltage, and almost everything in between.

Ryzen Master is only available for AM4-based Ryzen processors, which are unlocked when paired with an enabled AMD chipset. This means that the software will not support anything before AM4. Unfortunately, users will no longer be able to overclock their GPUs as they did when using the AMD Wattman GPU overclocking utility.

As you can see, Ryzen Master allows users to modify all the main areas of their system. With this versatility and freedom, users should be able to customize their system according to their exact requirements.

So now that we have understood the basics of Ryzen Master, it is time to take a closer look at how to use this software.

We have entered the software for the first time since installing in this version.

If, like us, you are using Ryzen Master in your build for the first time, you will receive a disclaimer from AMD Ryzen Master. It looks a bit like this:

As you can see, using this software will void your warranty. If you want to blow up your motherboard or destroy your new Ryzen 9 3950X, you will not be covered.

Having said that, I don't need to worry too much, your device will not allow you to enter very inappropriate numbers, which can blow up your computer.

You still need to be careful.

Simply accept the disclaimer and you are good to go.

The image above is the input interface of the latest version of AMD Ryzen Master 2.1.0. You can see that it directly displays a large amount of system data.

For the purpose of this article, we will start from the left to quickly navigate through the different tabs and menu titles, and then move to the right. The first tab is the home button, and then there are four customizable profiles, labeled "Creator Mode, Game Mode, Profile 1, Profile 2". You can use all four to create different profiles for specific scenarios; they are all very simple.

On the right side, you will see many monitoring dials, as shown below: CPU temperature, Peek core speed, PPT, TDC, EDC. You will then see the current control mode of your system. Each core has its own unique speed, CPU voltage control, multi-threaded control, memory control, RAM voltage design

Squeeze some extra MHz from your CPU. Others just want to monitor their system temperature. That being said, it is good to know that if you want to adjust RAM or unplug the kernel, you have the ability to do so.

overclocking, for those who are completely unfamiliar with building PCs, is a way to extract extra performance from the hardware. You can increase the speed of CPU, GPU and even RAM to a higher level than running directly.

However, overclocking through BIOS can be quite difficult, and a certain level of knowledge is required before entering tasks at this level; this is where Ryzen Master comes in. On the other hand,

Ryzen Master helps to simplify the whole process. It has a clear user interface that can accurately describe key areas to ensure you know what is being modified. Of course, some prior knowledge is required before using this application, but it is much simpler than doing it through the BIOS.

Having said that, let us quickly review some of the basics of overclocking in Ryzen Master.

We will perform a slight overclocking on AMD Ryzen 7 3800X. It has been paired with ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Plus motherboard.

Let's get started.

Start the process by selecting one of the four configuration files provided by the software. We have selected the profile from creator mode. As you can see, in the config file, you can now access all CPU cores and many "control mode" options. Set the "Control Mode" to manual to start the overclocking process.

At this stage, you want to know how far you want to push your CPU. We decided to use 4.4 GHz instead of the 3.9 GHz base clock currently set.

After setting the overclocking target, first increase each core by 50. After adjusting all the cores, just click the "Apply and Test" button at the bottom.

This will run a little stress test on your system. If you push the CPU too far, the system may crash or restore the number to a stable number. In our example, everything turned out fine, just as I imagined. The

3800X has a nominal boost clock speed of up to 4.5GHz, so the 4.2GHz speed we started using can be reached.

Always check your monitoring dial during the stress test. As you can see, even this small adjustment has increased the operating temperature of the CPU by almost 5 degrees.

Keep doing this until you reach the speed you want and run a stress test to make sure your system is stable. The

underwent a final stress test at the required core speed of 4.4 GHz and found similar readings again. The rise in CPU temperature is one of the most obvious differences between the two clock speeds. However, this is expected, and this is the number one reason we recommend that you have an inventory cooler that can handle this type of increase.

In the end, this is almost the entire content of a CPU overclocking. I recommend testing the new clock speed on something more intensive, like Cinebench R15. This will really push your CPU to the limit, and if there is any jitter, Cinebench should smell it.
