Acer Nitro XV252Q adopts a discreet design, far from "games". Nitro series is Acer's budget custom series, which focuses more on value than original performance. For this reason, the location of this monitor will be interesting from a build quality standpoint.

Unpacking this monitor, I have to say it feels great. The panel itself is similar to other Acer Nitros we've tested in the past - it feels very solid and sturdy. Unlike the XV270UP we tested not long ago, the XV252Q feels sturdier and all accessories are securely attached. The

bracket is made primarily of plastic, but provides a metal base frame for increased support. The mechanism that handles the stand adjustment feels great on this monitor, providing a hard surface that isn't actually that unstable.

All buttons feel good, as does the entry on the back. In the end, I think Acer has done a good job designing a well-designed display that will stand the test of time.

Like most modern panels, the Acer Nitro XV252Q has an anti-glare panel coating with a matte finish (3H hardness). The coating is excellent at reducing natural and artificial light sources, but it collects a lot of fingerprints during use.

Nitro is equipped with a smooth two-level frame, almost no frame. Border and display border

As always, we first tested the display in its native configuration "out of the box", in this case; 161 candela brightness, standard color mode, and "warm" color temperature. The

initial settings are normal, but this is not the worst I have ever seen. The white point is stable at 6953 K, as is the black depth (0.12). The contrast is slightly lower than 1000:1 (964:1) and the average deltaE is 2.3, which is not terrible. The gamma reading is 2.33.

We tested the following dedicated sRGB presets, hoping to get better color accuracy performance. The white point is very similar to the standard, as are the depth and contrast of black. However, the average deltaE has dropped sharply and is now 0.94 on average. Gamma is not as powerful as the original setting, with a reading of 2.15.

I tried the Action preset last time, just want to see what kind of experience it provides. Of course, it's not as accurate as sRGB, but it doesn't look too bad. It provides a gray hue, and although it does not seem accurate, it is helpful in some game scenes. Get a better understanding of the features provided by this monitor. I was very impressed by the overall speed and clarity it provided. The maximum resolution of XV252Q is 1080p, which allows me to easily achieve the 390 frames per second required for the best viewing experience. The overall game feels very smooth, and the moving circular map gives me a sense of connection that cannot be replicated with slower alternatives. The biggest benefit of playing games on a monitor with a high refresh rate is the clarity you experience when things around you move fast. When playing on a 144Hz monitor, approaching enemies will get a bit blurry, especially when you move the mouse very aggressively. However, this is not the case with XV252Q F. Regardless of the situation or the speed of the object, I am very clear during the game.

I tested some OSD gaming settings to see if we can further improve the viewing experience. In game mode, the Over Drive of this monitor is set to "Normal". As always, we tested various Over Drive settings to see which one provided the best balance between pixel response and image sharpness. To my surprise, setting Over Drive to "Extreme" does not cause annoying overshoot or reverse ghosting. We tested the VRB (Visual Response Reinforcement) function shortly afterwards to see if visual artifacts could be found. Use this function to turn on the backlight to reduce motion blur on moving objects. Although it further improves image clarity, it also effectively increases screen flicker and may be harmful to eye fatigue.

Of course, in all tests, we have enabled FreeSync Premium and overclocked the refresh rate to a maximum of 390Hz.
